You're absolutely right that when a bra is marketed for support, particularly for fuller figures, it should have the proper construction and structure to actually provide that support. When it lacks the reinforcement you're expecting, it's just not doing its job, no matter how nice it looks.

I completely understand your extreme disappointment and frustration. When you need real support and the bra feels like it has no structure at all, it's failing to meet the most basic requirement of what a support bra should deliver.
